Nissan Skyline R34 For Sale — Import From Japan
If you're shopping for an R34, you're most likely choosing between a manual 25GT Turbo and a GT-R. Pick the GT-R and there's a second choice, between V-spec, V-spec II, M-spec and the 2002 Nür cars, which differ in suspension, differential and engine. Nissan put the R34 on sale in May 1998 as a coupe and a sedan, with a shorter wheelbase and a stiffer body than the R33. Every R34 engine is an RB six. In the GT it's the 2.0-liter RB20DE NEO. The naturally aspirated RB25DE goes in the 25GT, 25GT-V and all-wheel-drive 25GT-FOUR, and the 25GT Turbo has the 280 PS RB25DET NEO with a five-speed manual or an automatic. Then in January 1999 came the GT-R (BNR34), with the RB26DETT, ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive, a six-speed Getrag gearbox and a dashboard multi-function display. Nissan facelifted the range in August 2000. Non-GT-R production stopped in May 2001, and the last GT-R was built in August 2002.

What to check on a Skyline R34
- ER34 covers both the 25GT and the 25GT Turbo, so the code alone won't prove a turbo. Look for the RB25DET in the engine bay and confirm the grade on the model plate.
- A Nür should have gold cam covers, a gold VIN plate and the 300 km/h speedometer, and a V-spec II the carbon hood with NACA duct. Check the plate and chassis number before paying for the badge.
- Ask to see RB26 service records for the timing belt and water pump. Oil pressure shouldn't drop below 4.0 bar above 4,000 rpm.
- Check the sills, chassis rails, strut mounts and rear wheel arches for rust. In the trunk floor and engine bay, new clips and missing factory labels are signs of accident repair.
- Every gear in the Getrag six-speed should engage smoothly. Repairs are expensive, and parts are hard to find.
- Scan the GT-R's multi-function display for dead pixels, and look under the dash for wiring that was cut in for aftermarket gauges.
What it costs to import a Skyline R34
The card prices above are what each car costs in Japan. The shipped price on a card is that car delivered to your nearest US port, with ocean freight and export fees included. We then clear it through US customs as your importer of record and handle the title, so there's no customs broker for you to hire. The full cost breakdown has the details.
Is the Skyline R34 legal to import?
Any vehicle 25 years or older is legal to import into the USA without meeting modern FMVSS safety or EPA emissions standards. Eligibility runs on the month and year of manufacture, not just the model year. If the exact R34 you want is not yet eligible, we can buy it and store it in Japan until it is. See the 25-year rule explained.
How buying one from us works
We bid at Japanese auctions and buy from dealer stock on your behalf. Before any money moves, the car is physically inspected in Japan, with photos, video, and a condition report, not just an auction sheet grade. After purchase we handle export, ocean freight to your nearest US port, customs clearance, import duty, and US title, so the car arrives ready to register. Typical timeline is 45–60 days from purchase to delivery.

Phasing in — cars built up to September 2001 are eligible now; the last cars qualify in August 2027. Of the cars in stock, 143 are from 2000 or earlier and qualify under the 25-year rule now. The 45 from 2001 qualify only if built September 2001 or earlier. As for the 18 still too new, we can buy one now and store it in Japan until it qualifies. Month and year of manufacture are what count, and we check the exact build date before you commit.
How long does it take to get a Nissan Skyline R34 from Japan?
Plan on about 45–60 days from purchase. The car is inspected and exported in Japan, spends 3–5 weeks at sea to your nearest US port (East Coast, West Coast, Gulf and Honolulu), and then goes through US customs, duty and title. We handle every step as your importer of record.
What do you check before buying a Nissan Skyline R34?
Every car is inspected in person in Japan before any money moves. On this chassis we look hardest at: ER34 covers both the 25GT and the 25GT Turbo, so the code alone won't prove a turbo. Look for the RB25DET in the engine bay and confirm the grade on the model plate; A Nür should have gold cam covers, a gold VIN plate and the 300 km/h speedometer, and a V-spec II the carbon hood with NACA duct. Check the plate and chassis number before paying for the badge; Ask to see RB26 service records for the timing belt and water pump. Oil pressure shouldn't drop below 4.0 bar above 4,000 rpm; Check the sills, chassis rails, strut mounts and rear wheel arches for rust. In the trunk floor and engine bay, new clips and missing factory labels are signs of accident repair.
Is the R34 25GT-FOUR a turbo?
The all-wheel-drive 25GT-FOUR (ENR34) is naturally aspirated, pairing the RB25DE with ATTESA E-TS. Outside the GT-R, the only turbocharged R34 models are the rear-drive 25GT Turbo and the sedan-only 25GT-X Turbo, both with the 280 PS RB25DET NEO.
What changed with the August 2000 facelift?
Nissan revised the front bumper and the interior trim, which picked up aluminum pedals and a silver finish on the console and gauge trim. Manual 25GT Turbos also gained torque, and their RB25DET switched to the GT-R's connecting rods.
What is a Nür?
Nür is the name on the last R34 GT-Rs, the V-spec II Nür and M-spec Nür, which went on sale in February 2002. Their RB26DETT is based on the N1 racing engine, with larger turbochargers that use steel turbine wheels in place of ceramic ones. They also get gold cam covers and a 300 km/h speedometer. Nissan built 718 V-spec II Nürs and 285 M-spec Nürs.
