Showing 1–24 of 1,597 kei trucks and vans, the ones you can import now first.
Which kei trucks can you import?
A kei truck can come into the US under the federal 25-year rule once it is 25 years old, counted from its month of manufacture, so as of today anything built October 2001 or earlier qualifies. 1,053 of the 1,597 trucks and vans here qualify now, and 178 from 2001 qualify if built by then. A newer one can be bought now and stored in Japan until it turns 25. The 25-year rule explained has the details.
What a kei truck costs
Each card shows the truck's price in Japan and its shipped price: the truck delivered to your nearest US port, with ocean freight and export fees included. Kei trucks and vans you can import today start at about $3,546 shipped, and a typical one comes to about $6,032. If you would rather we take it from the port, ask for an imported quote: one all-in price that includes US customs, duty and title. See what importing costs.
Can you drive a kei truck on the road?
Importing one is a federal question; registering it for the road is up to your state, and the rules differ from state to state. Before you buy, check with your state's DMV what it needs to title and register an imported kei truck, and whether it limits where one can be driven.
What to look for
- Two- or four-wheel drive. Many 4WD kei trucks also have a Hi/Lo transfer case.
- The bed. A flat bed with drop sides, a dump bed, or a jumbo cab with room behind the seats.
- Air conditioning and power steering, which many working trucks were built without.
- Rust on the frame, the bed and the cab floor, which an in-person inspection checks before you buy.

Of the trucks and vans in stock, 1,053 qualify now. As for the 328 still too new, we can buy one now and store it in Japan until it qualifies. We check the exact build date before you commit.
Are kei trucks street legal in the US?
Importing one under the 25-year rule is federal; registering it for the road is up to your state, and the rules differ from state to state. Before you buy, check with your state's DMV what it needs to title and register an imported kei truck, and whether it limits where one can be driven.
What is the difference between a kei truck and a kei van?
A kei truck has an open bed behind the cab, usually with drop sides. A kei van such as the Hijet Cargo, Suzuki Every or Minicab Van closes that space in, and passenger versions such as the Daihatsu Atrai and Honda Vamos add seats. Both are built to the same kei-car size and engine rules.
How long does it take to get a kei truck from Japan?
Plan on about 45–60 days from purchase. The truck is inspected and exported in Japan, spends 3–5 weeks at sea to your nearest US port (East Coast, West Coast, Gulf and Honolulu), and then goes through US customs and title. We handle every step for you.
