Nissan Silvia S14 For Sale — Import From Japan

When the S14 Silvia replaced the S13 in October 1993, it came as a coupe only. It sat lower and wider than before, and the extra width moved it out of Japan's compact tax class. The trims carried over. J's and Q's have the naturally aspirated SR20DE (160 PS), the K's has the SR20DET turbo (220 PS), and both engines gained NVCS variable intake cam timing. Type S versions added equipment and options such as electric Super HICAS. Aero versions with a large rear wing arrived in May 1995. The June 1996 kouki facelift brought angular, more aggressive headlights, tinted taillights and a revised front. Earlier cars are zenki. Nismo's 1994 270R and Autech's 1997 K's MF-T are the rare factory-backed specials. Production ended in December 1998. A handy check is the hubs. Turbo cars ride on five-lug hubs and naturally aspirated cars on four, which helps you spot a Q's that's been converted and sold as a K's.

What to check on a Silvia S14

What it costs to import a Silvia S14

The card prices above are what each car costs in Japan. The shipped price on a card is that car delivered to your nearest US port, with ocean freight and export fees included. We then clear it through US customs as your importer of record and handle the title, so there's no customs broker for you to hire. The full cost breakdown has the details.

Is the Silvia S14 legal to import?

Any vehicle 25 years or older is legal to import into the USA without meeting modern FMVSS safety or EPA emissions standards. Eligibility runs on the month and year of manufacture, not just the model year. If the exact S14 you want is not yet eligible, we can buy it and store it in Japan until it is. See the 25-year rule explained.

How buying one from us works

We bid at Japanese auctions and buy from dealer stock on your behalf. Before any money moves, the car is physically inspected in Japan, with photos, video, and a condition report, not just an auction sheet grade. After purchase we handle export, ocean freight to your nearest US port, customs clearance, import duty, and US title, so the car arrives ready to register. Typical timeline is 45–60 days from purchase to delivery.

Can I import a Nissan Silvia S14 to the USA?

How long does it take to get a Nissan Silvia S14 from Japan?

Plan on about 45–60 days from purchase. The car is inspected and exported in Japan, spends 3–5 weeks at sea to your nearest US port (East Coast, West Coast, Gulf and Honolulu), and then goes through US customs, duty and title. We handle every step as your importer of record.

What do you check before buying a Nissan Silvia S14?

Every car is inspected in person in Japan before any money moves. On this chassis we look hardest at: Count the lugs. A K's uses 5x114.3 hubs and a Q's 4x114.3, so a turbo engine on four-lug hubs means you're looking at a swapped Q's; The S14 has been a drift car for decades. Look for kinks, fresh paint or repairs on the chassis rails and around the rear subframe, and for reshaped strut towers; Kouki front ends are commonly fitted to earlier cars. Compare the build date with the June 1996 change, and look behind the bumper for front-end repair; A clatter from the upper engine is often a failing NVCS variable cam timing actuator. Blue smoke is a sign of engine wear, white a sign of a turbo seal leak.

Zenki or kouki S14?

That depends on when the car was built. Zenki cars date from October 1993 to June 1996, and kouki cars from the June 1996 facelift until production ended in December 1998. The facelift brought angular headlights, tinted taillights and a revised front, while engines and trim levels stayed the same. Front-end swaps are common, so go by the build date.

How do I spot a Q's sold as a K's?

Check the model plate for the grade and the engine bay for an SR20DET. Then look at the wheel hubs. K's cars use five-lug hubs and Q's cars use four, so a turbo engine on four-lug hubs means a converted Q's. That's fine as long as the price reflects it.

What are the Nismo 270R and Autech K's MF-T?

Both are factory-backed specials. Nismo built the 270R in 1994 on the early S14, with a vented hood, a front-mount intercooler, Nismo aero and a two-way limited-slip differential, and every one was painted black. Autech's K's MF-T came in October 1997 with an Autech-tuned SR20DET and an IHI turbocharger, plus a revised interior with extra gauges.
