Toyota Chaser JZX100 For Sale — Import From Japan

Toyota ended the Chaser line with the JZX100. This sixth generation was built as a four-door pillared hardtop from September 1996 to June 2001, and afterward Toyota replaced it and the Cresta with the Verossa. It shares its platform and engines with the JZX100 Mark II and Cresta, but the Chaser has shorter overhangs and four round headlamps. The Tourer V is the car to have. Its 2.5-liter 1JZ-GTE now comes with VVT-i and a single turbo, and it's rated at 280 PS with peak torque at just 2,400 rpm. Drive goes to the rear wheels through an automatic or a five-speed manual with a standard LSD. A Tourer S looks the same but runs the naturally aspirated 1JZ-GE. Comfort grades sit in the Avante line, up to the 3.0-liter Avante G. An August 1998 facelift splits production into zenki and kouki cars, and the tail lights are the easiest way to tell them apart. What most buyers want is a factory-manual Tourer V that hasn't been used hard on track.

What to check on a Chaser JZX100

What it costs to import a Chaser JZX100

The card prices above are what each car costs in Japan. The shipped price on a card is that car delivered to your nearest US port, with ocean freight and export fees included. We then clear it through US customs as your importer of record and handle the title, so there's no customs broker for you to hire. The full cost breakdown has the details.

Is the Chaser JZX100 legal to import?

Any vehicle 25 years or older is legal to import into the USA without meeting modern FMVSS safety or EPA emissions standards. Eligibility runs on the month and year of manufacture, not just the model year. If the exact JZX100 you want is not yet eligible, we can buy it and store it in Japan until it is. See the 25-year rule explained.

How buying one from us works

We bid at Japanese auctions and buy from dealer stock on your behalf. Before any money moves, the car is physically inspected in Japan, with photos, video, and a condition report, not just an auction sheet grade. After purchase we handle export, ocean freight to your nearest US port, customs clearance, import duty, and US title, so the car arrives ready to register. Typical timeline is 45–60 days from purchase to delivery.

Can I import a Toyota Chaser JZX100 to the USA?

The 19 from 2001 qualify only if built September 2001 or earlier. Month and year of manufacture are what count, and we check the exact build date before you commit.

How long does it take to get a Toyota Chaser JZX100 from Japan?

Plan on about 45–60 days from purchase. The car is inspected and exported in Japan, spends 3–5 weeks at sea to your nearest US port (East Coast, West Coast, Gulf and Honolulu), and then goes through US customs, duty and title. We handle every step as your importer of record.

What do you check before buying a Toyota Chaser JZX100?

Every car is inspected in person in Japan before any money moves. On this chassis we look hardest at: Tourer S and Avante cars are easy to dress up as Tourer Vs. Confirm a Tourer V by the 1JZ-GTE in the engine bay and the grade on the model plate, and ignore the badges; Find out whether a manual is factory or converted, since the full model code on the plate records the transmission the car was built with. A good conversion is a usable car, but price it as a conversion rather than a factory five-speed; Drift cars give themselves away with welded or replaced differentials, cut or rolled rear arches, seam welding, and kinked or repaired chassis rails; Manual Tourer Vs came with a factory LSD. Ask whether it's still fitted, or whether it's been welded or swapped.

Zenki or kouki JZX100 Chaser?

The dividing line is Toyota's August 1998 facelift. Zenki cars were built before it and kouki cars after, and the tail lights show the difference most clearly. The Tourer V has the same 280 PS VVT-i single-turbo 1JZ-GTE either way, so put condition and transmission first and the facelift second.

JZX100 or JZX90 Chaser?

Both Tourer Vs are rated at 280 PS. By Toyota's figures, the JZX90's twin-turbo 1JZ-GTE gives 37.0 kgm of torque at 4,800 rpm, while the JZX100's VVT-i single-turbo version makes 38.5 kgm at 2,400 rpm. The JZX100 pulls harder from low revs and is the newer car. The JZX90 is the older one, with twin turbos.

How is a JZX100 Chaser different from a JZX100 Mark II?

The platform and engines are shared. The Chaser is 45 mm shorter overall (4,715 mm against 4,760 mm), has four round headlamps and calls its comfort line Avante, where the Mark II's is Grande. Both offer the Tourer V with a factory five-speed.
