Honda NSX For Sale — Import From Japan

NA1 and NA2 — the all-aluminium mid-engined Honda

The NSX is the car that forced Ferrari to take reliability seriously: an all-aluminium mid-engined V6 with a VTEC top end, developed with Ayrton Senna's input, and usable every day in a way its rivals were not. Japanese-market cars wear Honda badges rather than Acura, and Japan got manual-only variants the US did not.

Which NSX generation should you buy?

ChassisYearsKey variantsUS import status
NA11990–1997C30A 3.0 V6, 5-speed manual or automaticEligible now
NA21997–2005C32B 3.2 V6, 6-speed manual, fixed headlightsPhasing in (through September 2001)
NA1 Type R1992–1995Stripped, 120 kg lighter — very rareEligible now

Eligibility runs on month and year of manufacture, not model year — as of today, anything built September 2001 or earlier qualifies. Within a generation marked “phasing in” some build dates are legal and others are not, so the individual car matters. Tell us the chassis and we will check its exact build date before you commit.

NSX grades & special editions

Pop-ups or fixed headlights

The NA1 is the pop-up headlight car with the 3.0-litre C30A. The NA2, from 1997, brought the 3.2-litre C32B, a six-speed manual and fixed headlights. Both are desirable; the pop-up cars have the period look, the NA2 has the better drivetrain.

The NA1 is fully eligible today. The NA2 ran to 2005, so it is phasing in by build date, and the earliest 1997–2001 cars are the ones available now.

The NSX-R is a different proposition entirely — stripped, lighter, and priced as the collector item it is.

What we check before bidding

What it costs to import a NSX

The prices above are the vehicle in Japan. On top of that, budget roughly $3,000–$5,000 for ocean freight, standard export and import fees, US customs duty, and US title service. We quote all of it as one landed price — unlike exporters who advertise a to-port “shipped” price and leave you to hire your own customs broker. See the full cost breakdown.

Is the NSX legal to import?

Any vehicle 25 years or older is legal to import into the USA without meeting modern FMVSS safety or EPA emissions standards. Eligibility runs on the month and year of manufacture, not just the model year, so within a single generation some build dates qualify before others. If the exact car you want is not yet eligible, we can buy it and store it in Japan until it is. See the 25-year rule explained.

Is the NSX you want legal yet? Our Honda NSX import guide breaks eligibility down by build month and works through what one costs landed and titled in the USA.

How buying one from us works

We bid at Japanese auctions and buy from dealer stock on your behalf. Before any money moves, the car is physically inspected in Japan — photos, video, and a condition report, not just an auction sheet grade. After purchase we handle export, ocean freight to your nearest US port, customs clearance, import duty, and US title, so the car arrives ready to register. Typical timeline is 45–60 days from purchase to delivery.

Honda NSX FAQ

Is the Honda NSX legal to import to the USA?

NA1: Fully eligible — the entire run is 25+ years old. NA2: Phasing in — cars built up to September 2001 are eligible now; the last cars qualify in December 2030. NA1 Type R: Fully eligible — the entire run is 25+ years old. Eligibility runs on month and year of manufacture, not model year — as of today anything built September 2001 or earlier qualifies.

What is the difference between a Honda NSX and an Acura NSX?

They are the same car with different badging — Honda in Japan and most markets, Acura in North America. Japanese-market cars also had specification and option differences, and Japan received manual-only variants the US did not.
