Toyota Cresta JZX100 For Sale — Import From Japan

Of the three JZX100 siblings, the Cresta got the formal styling. It shares its platform and engines with the Mark II and Chaser, but it's a four-door sedan where they're hardtops, and it's 20 mm taller. This fifth-generation Cresta was built from September 1996 to June 2001 and was the last before Toyota replaced it and the Chaser with the Verossa. The trim names differ too. Exceed and Exceed G are the luxury grades, and the sport line called Tourer on the JZX90 Cresta is Roulant here. The turbo car is the Roulant G, with the 280 PS VVT-i single-turbo 1JZ-GTE and rear-wheel drive. Toyota only sold it with a four-speed automatic. Early 2.0-liter Super Lucent cars were the only ones offered with a factory manual, so a manual 1JZ-GTE Cresta is a conversion. Judge those by how well the work was done.

What it costs to import a Cresta JZX100

The card prices above are what each car costs in Japan. The shipped price on a card is that car delivered to your nearest US port, with ocean freight and export fees included. We then clear it through US customs as your importer of record and handle the title, so there's no customs broker for you to hire. The full cost breakdown has the details.

Is the Cresta JZX100 legal to import?

Any vehicle 25 years or older is legal to import into the USA without meeting modern FMVSS safety or EPA emissions standards. Eligibility runs on the month and year of manufacture, not just the model year. If the exact JZX100 you want is not yet eligible, we can buy it and store it in Japan until it is. See the 25-year rule explained.

How buying one from us works

We bid at Japanese auctions and buy from dealer stock on your behalf. Before any money moves, the car is physically inspected in Japan, with photos, video, and a condition report, not just an auction sheet grade. After purchase we handle export, ocean freight to your nearest US port, customs clearance, import duty, and US title, so the car arrives ready to register. Typical timeline is 45–60 days from purchase to delivery.

The 4 from 2001 qualify only if built September 2001 or earlier. Month and year of manufacture are what count, and we check the exact build date before you commit.

How long does it take to get a Toyota Cresta JZX100 from Japan?

Plan on about 45–60 days from purchase. The car is inspected and exported in Japan, spends 3–5 weeks at sea to your nearest US port (East Coast, West Coast, Gulf and Honolulu), and then goes through US customs, duty and title. We handle every step as your importer of record.

What do you check before buying a Toyota Cresta JZX100?

Every car is inspected in person in Japan before any money moves. On this chassis we look hardest at: A manual turbo Cresta is a conversion, since the Roulant G only came with an automatic. Ask who did the work and what was changed (gearbox, clutch pedal and hydraulics, driveshaft, engine management); To confirm a Roulant G, look for the 1JZ-GTE in the engine bay and the grade on the model plate. Exceed and Super Lucent cars are naturally aspirated; The Roulant G's four-speed automatic sits behind 280 PS. Check it for slipping, flare between shifts or harsh engagement, and ask about fluid changes; Converted cars may have a drift history, so look for a welded differential, rolled arches and repaired chassis rails.

Is there a JZX100 Cresta Tourer V?

Not by that name. The JZX100 Cresta's sport line was renamed Roulant, so the turbocharged grade is the Roulant G. Tourer V belongs to the JZX90 Cresta and the JZX100 Chaser and Mark II, and a listing that calls a JZX100 Cresta a Tourer V has borrowed a sibling's name.

Did the JZX100 Cresta come with a manual?

Only the early 2.0-liter Super Lucent was offered with one. The turbo Roulant G was automatic-only, so a manual 1JZ-GTE Cresta didn't leave the factory that way.

How is the Cresta different from a JZX100 Chaser or Mark II?

All three share the platform and engines. The Cresta is the four-door sedan of the group, 20 mm taller than its siblings, with the most formal styling of the three.
