Nissan Laurel C35 For Sale — Import From Japan
Nissan ended the Laurel line with the C35, its eighth generation. It launched in June 1997 and was built until December 2002, when the Teana replaced it. Every C35 is a sashless four-door hardtop, sold in two lines. The Medalist is the comfort-oriented one, and the sportier Club S launched with blacked-out round headlights. Engines are Nissan's NEO straight-sixes (the 155 PS RB20DE and the 200 PS RB25DE), the RB25DET turbo and a 2.8-liter diesel. At launch the turbo was rated at 235 PS. That went up to 280 PS in September 1998, when it gained variable valve timing and rear-drive 2.5-liter Club S models got the Dualmatic M-ATx automatic with shift buttons on the steering wheel. All C35s have a four-speed automatic. The FOUR models pair the RB25DE with ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive, and Super HICAS rear steering was optional on the Club S Turbo Type X. After the August 1999 facelift the Medalist wore a larger grille and round quad headlights, and the Premier series joined the range. On a turbo car, the build date tells you which engine you've got.

What to check on a Laurel C35
- Turbo cars built before September 1998 have the 235 PS RB25DET, and later ones have the 280 PS NEO version. Compare the build date with what the listing says.
- Every C35 is a four-speed automatic, so feel for slipping and for harsh or late shifts, and check the fluid. On later Club S cars, try the steering-wheel shift buttons too.
- Ask for a compression test. On a turbo car, also look for smoke and boost leaks, and see whether the turbo is leaking oil.
- Model code GCC35 means Super HICAS rear steer, and GNC35 means ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive. On either, look for warning lights and see how the system behaves, or confirm any lock-out was done properly.
- The August 1999 update brought a new grille, headlights, bumper and rear lamps. Make sure the car's face matches its build date.
- Look at the sills and rear arches for rust. On a modified car, check the aftermarket suspension and the subframe mounts.
What it costs to import a Laurel C35
The card prices above are what each car costs in Japan. The shipped price on a card is that car delivered to your nearest US port, with ocean freight and export fees included. We then clear it through US customs as your importer of record and handle the title, so there's no customs broker for you to hire. The full cost breakdown has the details.
Is the Laurel C35 legal to import?
Any vehicle 25 years or older is legal to import into the USA without meeting modern FMVSS safety or EPA emissions standards. Eligibility runs on the month and year of manufacture, not just the model year. If the exact C35 you want is not yet eligible, we can buy it and store it in Japan until it is. See the 25-year rule explained.
How buying one from us works
We bid at Japanese auctions and buy from dealer stock on your behalf. Before any money moves, the car is physically inspected in Japan, with photos, video, and a condition report, not just an auction sheet grade. After purchase we handle export, ocean freight to your nearest US port, customs clearance, import duty, and US title, so the car arrives ready to register. Typical timeline is 45–60 days from purchase to delivery.

Can I import a Nissan Laurel C35 to the USA?
Of the cars in stock, 55 are from 2000 or earlier and qualify under the 25-year rule now. The 9 from 2001 qualify only if built September 2001 or earlier. As for the 14 still too new, we can buy one now and store it in Japan until it qualifies. Month and year of manufacture are what count, and we check the exact build date before you commit.
How long does it take to get a Nissan Laurel C35 from Japan?
Plan on about 45–60 days from purchase. The car is inspected and exported in Japan, spends 3–5 weeks at sea to your nearest US port (East Coast, West Coast, Gulf and Honolulu), and then goes through US customs, duty and title. We handle every step as your importer of record.
What do you check before buying a Nissan Laurel C35?
Every car is inspected in person in Japan before any money moves. On this chassis we look hardest at: Turbo cars built before September 1998 have the 235 PS RB25DET, and later ones have the 280 PS NEO version. Compare the build date with what the listing says; Every C35 is a four-speed automatic, so feel for slipping and for harsh or late shifts, and check the fluid. On later Club S cars, try the steering-wheel shift buttons too; Ask for a compression test. On a turbo car, also look for smoke and boost leaks, and see whether the turbo is leaking oil; Model code GCC35 means Super HICAS rear steer, and GNC35 means ATTESA E-TS all-wheel drive. On either, look for warning lights and see how the system behaves, or confirm any lock-out was done properly.
Is the C35 Club S Turbo 235 PS or 280 PS?
It depends on the build date. Nissan rated the RB25DET at 235 PS from the June 1997 launch. In September 1998 the NEO version arrived with variable valve timing and a 280 PS rating, and rear-drive 2.5-liter Club S models got the Dualmatic M-ATx automatic.
Did the C35 come with a manual gearbox?
Nissan only sold it with a four-speed automatic. Later rear-drive 2.5-liter Club S models have the Dualmatic M-ATx, which lets you shift with buttons on the steering wheel, but that's still an automatic. If a C35 has a clutch pedal, it's been converted.
What changed in the August 1999 facelift?
For the Medalist, it meant a larger grille, round quad headlights, a new front bumper and rear lamps, plus the new Premier series. Club S models got a smoked-chrome grille and clear rear lamps. The diesel also became the electronically controlled RD28E.
